Jesse Brown announces partnership with Illinois Medical District to open mass vaccination clinic - The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center will open a stand-alone COVID-19 vaccine clinic for Veterans on Monday, March 29. The clinic will serve all veterans eligible for health care from the Veterans Health Administration, regardless of their age or any health conditions. (03/25/2021)

More Veterans can now get COVID-19 vaccine - Jesse Brown VA Medical Center is making COVID-19 vaccines available to all veterans who are eligible for VA health care, regardless of their age and whether or not the veteran has any underlying health conditions. (03/18/2021)

Free program offers whole health support for Veterans, VA employees - Military Veterans who are enrolled in the VA health care system in the Chicago area now have a new program available to support their whole health self-care. Jesse Brown helps VA reach vaccine milestone - The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center has administered more than 15,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses. More than 7,500 Veterans have received the first dose of the vaccine and more than 4,400 of those have received both doses of the vaccine. These numbers helped the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) vaccinate its 1 millionth Veteran with at least one dose of the vaccine. VA Marks 75th Anniversary of Academic Affiliations - Throughout 2021, the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (VAMC) will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the VA academic affiliation program, a program that began in Chicago with the first residents from Northwestern University. (01/29/2021)

Jesse Brown VA Highlights Contextualized Care Planning - A Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Quality Improvement Program, which was first established at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (VAMC), recently conducted a study to evaluate the effectiveness of contextualized care planning in health care which showed significant cost savings and decreased hospitalizations for Veterans. Jesse Brown VAMC offers Improved Access to Care with Direct Scheduling Initiative - On June 13, 2016, Veterans who are enrolled at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center can begin making appointments with their local VA Audiology and Optometry clinics without seeing their VA Primary Care physician first. This is a significant change to doing business at the VA because previously, enrolled Veterans had to visit their Primary Care Physician for a referral, even if they had no other health care issues. Jesse Brown VAMC partners hosts largest Chicago Homeless Veteran Stand Down Event - The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC), in collaboration and partnership with Chicago-area Vet Centers, VA Medical Centers and more than 60 public and private, federal, state and city agencies, will host a two-day stand-down event for Homeless Veterans from June 10-11, 2016. The stand-down will take place at the National Guard Armory at 5200 S. Cottage Grove Avenue.The event caters to Chicago-area homeless Veterans who represent about 30% of the homeless population in the city. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. on June 10 and closes by 12 p.m. on June 11.
