***Physician Job Opening***

Position: General Rehabilitation Attending Physiatrist

General Summary

Responsible for providing high quality care to both inpatients and outpatients within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Service at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.  Functions as an instructor or assistant professor for Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Is active in ongoing research or collaborates with academic affiliates in generating articles for publication in refereed journals and research proposals for external funding. Actively participates in Medical Center outreach efforts.

Demonstrates support of the Department of Veteran’s Affairs mission statement and philosophy by striving for excellence, contributing to the team effort and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the Institute.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assumes full responsibility for providing high quality patient care for inpatient, outpatient and consultative services.
  2. Participates in medical education activities, including teaching students and residents, interdisciplinary journal club, continuing education courses and in-service training programs.
  3. Provides leadership to an interdisciplinary team of allied health, nursing and technical support staff.
  4. Attends all Medical Staff and PM&R Service meetings.
  5. Participates in service and Medical Center administration as assigned.  Actively participates on assigned committees.
  6. Demonstrates support of the Department of Veterans Affairs mission statement and philosophy.  Adheres to all Medical Center policies, procedures and bylaws.
